We expect you to adhere to the following guidelines:
• Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated. This includes offensive comments related to gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, public shaming, and unwelcomed sexual attention. In the event that any issues arise, this Code of Conduct outlines the steps that should be taken to address them.
• Members asked to stop any harassing behaviour, whether by other attendees or event staff, are expected to comply immediately.
• All communication should be appropriate for a diverse community, including individuals from many different backgrounds. Sexual language and imagery are not suitable for any conference venue, including talks.
• Any problems that arise should be addressed immediately, directly, and tactfully.
• Insulting or putting down other attendees, as well as harassment and sexist, racist, or exclusionary jokes, are not appropriate.
• Sexist, racist, and other exclusionary jokes can be offensive to those around you. Excessive swearing and offensive jokes are not appropriate for the Students Networks.
• Professional behavior is expected at all times, including respecting other members’ intellectual property, showing compassion for others, responding promptly to communications, attending meetings on time and in a focused manner, sticking to timelines/deadlines, valuing and respecting each other’s time and availability, responding appropriately to the emotional response of others, being honest, and acting ethically.
Violations of these guidelines may result in removal from the Students Networks and any related events.
